You're right – payday loans are not the answer. That's just legalized loan sharking. Provident isn't much better.
And please Report all of the scam loan spam you're going to get as 'answers'. They're all Nigeria Advance Fee Scams.

That you are "desperate" sets you up as a target. Further, you can't borrow money to cover ongoing expenses. The expenses keep coming, your need does not go away, so you end up in a spiral of borrowing more and more money until eventually you simply can't make the payments anymore.

It hate to sound preachy, but it's time to re-evaluate where the money is going and how you have things set up. If your current situation is not surviveable, going into debt will only make it worse.
Can you work out some kind of child care co-op with another mom? Are you at least on food stamps and WIC? (don't be proud; if the aid is there, use it) Have you considered government housing? Where can you cut out expenses? What can you do to get a job that pays better than at least one of the four (!) you currently have?

Is there anybody that can lend you? e.g. friends and relatives, its very hard to get a loan at the moment and for your case your APR will be just ridiculous. Would you possibly negotiate with the childcare? I am also in a lot of financial difficulties and have not opted to go for a loan because it can add more problems. Join a credit union. Loans from 1% interest. Much cheaper than Provident.
